Dana Bay & surrounding areas

Apart from the pristine beaches found in Dana Bay, one can view from the balcony Vlees Bay, FransmansHoek and Bokkoms Bay. These areas offer unspoilt areas to walk and view points of the sea.

Golf

We are 2 kilometres from Pinnacle Point golf course and  Casino. A mere 7 kilometres away one would also find Mossel Bay golf course. Additional championship gold courses are Fancourt and George Golf Course approximately 45 km from Dana Bay.

Game Lodges

Botlierskop Private Game Reserve offers 4 of the Big Five, overlooking the sea and mountains. It also includes 26 species of animals and 200 different birds.

The adjoining farm of Zorgfontein Eco & Wildlife Reserve offers the once in a lifetime experience to walk with young lions. Only 8 persons can be hosted on each excursion. With these twice-a-day walks, which is strictly controlled by guides it is a nice and quite comfortable walk, and you walk slowly so that you can see how the animals interact and play. This experience should not be missed.

Shark Cage Diving

Mossel Bay hosts an extraordinary number of Great white sharks, and has become known around the world as «Sharkville». White Shark Africa provides the visitor with a unique opportunity to view or dive with the mysterious and intriguing Great White Shark in its natural environment.

Whales

Whales are regular visitors to Dana Bay. They can often be see during the summer months frolicking in the bay. Binoculars are provided for just this event and they can be viewed from the balcony which offers an almost 180 degree of sea view.

Hiking

The 14 km Oyster Catcher Trail, which starts at the Mossel Bay Lighthouse, is a three day hike that runs along the coast of Mossel Bay and Dana Bay to Gouritsmond. Discover the breathtaking views over the coastline of Mossel Bay. You will pass through beautiful pristine vegetation with a variety of birds. Dolphins, seals and whales are also to be seen, as well as African Bush Buck and Klipdassie. The 14 km Oystercatcher trail is rated one of the top ten best hiking trails in South Africa.

Caves in the Area

Pinnacle Point in Mossel Bay is home to some of the oldest and most important archaeological discoveries in relation to the origin of all people on this earth. The Point of Human Experience is a journey into prehistory.

Trips from Mossel Bay

You can reach Oudtshoorn, with its famous ostrich farms and cave systems (Cango Caves) via the beautiful Outeniqua Pass. Knysna – the lagoon town with waterfront and oyster farms can be best vieved from the Heads.
